Life is extremely difficult for this family as Rasa, her aunt and uncle all have HIV. Her brother does not have the virus. In order to bring in some income her uncle lives away, up towards the Thai border, where he works on a cassava farm.
The Cambodian Government provides free HIV medication but patients must travel to the regional hospitals to receive the treatment. Each month Rasa’s aunt needs medicine from Sout Nikum Referral Hospital and Raksa can receive it from Angkor Hospital for Children in Siem Reap. If they have no means of transport to get to the hospital they miss out.
